Beginning Star: Ch 3. Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Insert hook into next ch, yo, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Insert hook into first st, yo, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook). Insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook). Insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop (6 loops on hook). Yo, pull through all 6 loops. Ch 1 to close star.
Star Stitch: Insert hook into ch-1 sp of star just made, yo, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Insert hook into side of star, yo, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Insert hook into st at base of star, yo, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook). Insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop (5 loops on hook). Insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop (6 loops on hook). Yo, pull through all 6 loops. Ch 1 to close star.
sc 3rd Loop: to work into the 3rd Loop, work in the loop behind the top V of the indicated st.

Headband Instructions:
ch 66 (70, 74)
Row 1 rs: In the 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc. 1 hdc in each st across. 65 (69, 73) hdc. ch 1, turn.
Row 2 ws: 1 sc 3rd loop in the first st. 1 sc 3rd loop in each st across. 65 (69, 73) sc. ch 3, turn.
Row 3: Work first beg star st. star st across the row. For the last Star st do not ch 1 to close, instead work 1 dc in the last st. ch 1 and turn. 33 (35, 34) star sts
Row 4: 1 sc in the first st. 2 sc in each star st across. Work 1 sc in the top of the beginning ch-3. 32 sc. ch 1, turn. 65 (69, 73) sc. ch 1, turn
Row 5: 1 hdc in each st across. 65 (69, 73) hdc. ch 1, turn.
Row 6: 1 sc 3rd loop in the first st. 1 sc 3rd loop in each st across. 65 (69, 73) sc. Fasten off
Tie Instructions
Right side up
Row 1: Work 7 sc along the side of the headband. 7 sc. ch 1 Turn.
Row 2-6: sc in each st across. 7 sc. ch 1, turn
Row 7: sc2tog, 3 sc, sc2tog. 5 sc. ch 1 turn
Row 8-10: sc in each st across.. 5 sc. ch 1, turn
Row 11: sc2tog, sc, sc2tog. 3 sc. ch 1, turn
Row 12-13: sc in each st across. 3 sc. ch 1, turn.
Row 14: sc3tog. fasten off
Repeat for the other tie.
